Book Review: Borrowing To Invest
Review by evon (TNO Member since June 2002)

The book description on the cover summarises very well what this book is about - "Using other people's money is a way to create more personal wealth for you. But do you know how to gain the most benefits? Do you understand the risks? Borrowing to Invest will explain how it works, answer your questions and put you on the right track."

Book Review: Teach Yourself Visually: Microsoft Excel
Review by Austin Hui
23 February 2005

Teach Yourself Visually: Microsoft Excel is the best beginner-level book on Microsoft Excel I have reviewed. This book is highly suitable for investors wanting to learn how to create simple spreadsheets, for example, to keep track of their portfolio, trading statistics and profit and loss.

Book Review: The Mining Valuation Handbook (1st Edition) Print E-mail
Book Review: The Mining Valuation Handbook (1st Edition)
Review by eddievanhalen (TNO member since August 2002)

As I understand it, this title is widely regarded as the best available text on the Australian resources industry for both investors and company management. I can't say I've come across too many investment books dedicated wholly to the resources industry anyway, so perhaps this isn't a great recommendation in itself. However, I can say that it does live up to its reputation in terms of being a comprehensive study of the subject and a valuable reference for analysing resource companies.

Book Review: Encyclopedia of Chart Patterns Print E-mail
Book Review: Encyclopedia of Chart Patterns (1st Edition)
Review by AlphaPower (TNO member since Nov 2001)

Thomas Bulkowski's Encyclopedia of Chart Patterns certainly lives up to its name. It is a reference work with some 52 chart patterns discussed/dissected in detail. It is a book as Tom said, "not to be read from cover to cover for fear it may put even the most hardened insomniac to sleep", but to be used as a reference tool before making the trade.

Book Review: Secrets To Profiting In Bull and Bear Markets Print E-mail

Book Review: Secrets To Profiting In Bull and Bear Markets
Review by Gordon (TNO member since July 2002)

Stan Weinstein's Secrets To Profiting In Bull and Bear Markets is likely one of the easiest to read and understand texts on Technical Analysis, yet the author presents a sound, practical, no-nonsense guide to buying and selling stocks. What's more, it's actually an enjoyable read. This book is about pure technical analysis (he dismisses fundamentals), but it is not yet another book defining all those fancy theoretical chart patterns and indicators.

Book Review: Martin Pring's Introduction to Technical Analysis Print E-mail

Book Review: Martin Pring's Introduction to Technical Analysis
Review by maureen (TNO member since Nov 2001)

This is a value-for-money production and delivers exactly what is promised - A lesson in understanding the basics of technical analysis.

The book and CD have virtually identical content, but with the CD, the diagrams and actual examples are animated, and the dialogue is spoken by Martin Pring. He has an English accent, and his voice is well suited to the "text book" style.
